Operation Felix PDF Print E-mail
Operation FelixFor the past two years, Independent film producer Mr. Martin Nuza, has been researching extensively about an operation during the Second World War, which if it had gone through, would have definitely changed the outcome of the war.

The operation was known as "Felix" and although meticulous plans were drawn up by the German High Command to invade Gibraltar and thousands of German troops were preparing for the invasion, the operation was cancelled at the last moment due to unprecedented diplomatic state of affairs.

The research has included recording a number of interviews locally in Gibraltar from former members of the then Gibraltar Defense Force, including the late Lt. Colonel Ferray (who unfortunately passed away only three months after our interview), Lt. Colonel Porrall, Solomon Levy and local historian Tito Vallejo amongst others, as well as flying to Munich and interviewing a number of remaining German war veterans who were at the time preparing to invade Gibraltar back in 1940.

This 60 minute documentary will be backed by a contingent of both British and German actors, stuntmen and re-enactment groups that will be simulating an attack in Gibraltar on Saturday the 19th of January 2008. This contingent will be formed by the Grossdetuscland and Die Gebirgstuppe regiments which were the main force responsible for occupying Gibraltar in 1940 plus the Black Watch and the Devonshire regiments who were based in Gibraltar along with the local Gibraltar Defense Force responsible for defending Gibraltar in the event of an attack.

The simulation will be set on many exterior locations around Gibraltar as from midday that will continue well into the night inside the Second World War tunnels and no disruption to the general public is envisaged. Everyone is welcome to attend and watch the numerous simulations during the filming.

The production company responsible for the creation of this documentary is Gold Productions Studios and a distributing deal has already been signed between Gold Productions Studios and one of Germany's top documentary distributors "Studio L" which will be responsible for worldwide distribution of this project. The script has been written by Spanish historical researcher Mr. Alfonso Escuadra Sanchez. The postproduction will be done by Mr. Martin Nuza. The soundtrack will be at the hands of the very talented Mr. Ernest Slade from the group Eazi-K who has in the past created superb soundtracks for Gold Productions Studios past projects.

The entire production will be shot in four countries, Germany, France, Spain and Gibraltar with over 66 re-enactors with original uniforms and a wealth of original military archive footage, stills and maps, promising to be an eye opener for everyone, backed by over 1000 original top secret German documents from the original "Operation Felix" drawn up by the German high command in 1940, last opened back in 1953 and which Mr. Nuza and Mr. Escuadra meticulously sifted through for over three days in the military archives in Germany and has been the main structure for the fact based script.

Taking the opportunity of having the re-enactment groups staying overnight in Gibraltar, Gold Productions Studios has organized together with the Gibraltar Government, a parade to be held in the morning of Sunday the 20th January 2008 at Casemates Square. Everyone from the public is welcome to come along and enjoy this free show that promises to be a real treat, especially for the young ones who can later take pictures with the re-enactors and play soldier themselves whilst the older generation can view the original uniforms and maybe even remember their past when they themselves wore the uniform and marched on parade over 60 years ago in Gibraltar.

This project has been financed by Gold Productions Studios and supported by Baker Tilly (Gibraltar), Parodytur, Rock & Fortress, the Ministry of Defense, the Gibraltar Government, Anglo Hispano, Gibraltar Veterinary Clinic, Pizza Hut.

Please contact Mr. Martin Nuza directly at Gold Productions Studios for more information.
